Sunday morning, God has given me another day! It seems really weird having the children go off to church without me today. The rumor is that Kym and I are going to listen to her brother Eric speak from his church in Philadelphia today. The online experience is really cool, he has a great way of explaining things so that even an old guy like me can get it, and apply God's word to my life. Take a listen when you have a chance. https://valleypointchurch.com/
They have you wear these compression stockings to keep you from getting blood clots post-op, and last time I wore them every day and night for the 3 weeks until we saw the doctor for the follow up visit. Andrzej has had me roll them down after exercise to try to get the swelling to go down. It seems that the swelling causes most of the pain and stiffness, and we're trying this to see if it helps. Putting them back in place after the "extreme" elevation post exercise.
Last night after getting in bed for the night, which is sort of it's own exercise, the combination of the stockings and the velcro ice bag around the back of my knee just about pushed me over the edge. Getting them off is pretty difficult, especially when you can't bend your knee. I did it though, and I'm going to have a really hard time putting them back on. Grrr...
Today there is nobody coming to the house, though I wish I could get a house call to get my back adjusted. All this lying around, and sitting, is taking a toll... I tell Kym that I'm a man of action, and I'm not used to so much down time. She doesn't even laugh.. I'm funny I tell you, I am.
I didn't do much for exercise today, he said to take it easy. Last night and today the random, stabbing pains in all different parts of my leg are back. Another thing that has come back is when I get up out of bed, especially in the night, when I swing my right leg over the edge of the bed, it feels like all the blood in my body comes rushing back into the leg. That's the best way I can explain it. It takes a few minutes, and I can "walk it off".
Tomorrow is the one week visit from the nurse to change the dressing, I'm curious to see what the incision looks like. I was looking over the pictures from the left knee in May, and I can't wait to compare the two. I'm also thinking that after PT, I might have to go get adjusted. My back is really killing me. I don't want to complain, actually I've been thinking about outpatient PT in a few weeks, and I'm really looking forward to the leg work. I'm looking forward to getting my strength back, and not being limited by the other leg, like last time.
